Before you begin looking at
houses, it makes sense to narrow in on your choses location. Consider the size of your
family, the building stylesou prefer and whether you're a city person, country person or
somewhere in between.
Take a drive or walk through prospective
neighbourhoods, tal to local residents and take note:
- The homes in your general price range
- The style of architecture, age of the homes and
layout of the community must appeal to you
- Look for the good acces to public transit and
major roads
- Are public facilities - parks, roads, sidewalks -
in good condition?
- The access to the amenities are important
- Is it a priority to be close to family and friends
- Are there medical facilities in the area?
- Compare the municipal taxes to those in other
areas
- Does the area have the potential to increase in
value / popularity?
