Before you begin looking at houses, it makes sense to narrow in on your choses location. Consider the size of your family, the building stylesou prefer and whether you're a city person, country person or somewhere in between.

Take a drive or walk through prospective neighbourhoods, tal to local residents and take note:

  • The homes in your general price range
  • The style of architecture, age of the homes and layout of the community must appeal to you
  • Look for the good acces to public transit and major roads
  • Are public facilities - parks, roads, sidewalks - in good condition?
  • The access to the amenities are important
  • Is it a priority to be close to family and friends
  • Are there medical facilities in the area?
  • Compare the municipal taxes to those in other areas
  • Does the area have the potential to increase in value / popularity?
